The short version: we store the email address you give us, we use it only to send you the digests, and you can have it deleted by asking.

Who we are

genetics.academy is operated under the 1lab name (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at bruno@1lab.io.

What we collect

Only the email address you type into the signup form, and a note of which of our sites you submitted it from.

Nothing else. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising trackers or third-party scripts. We do not record your IP address.

Why we collect it

To send you the digests, and to tell you when the service launches. That is the only use.

Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time — see Your rights below.

Where it is stored

On a virtual private server we operate, hosted by Hostinger. Access is restricted to us.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We do not sell, rent or otherwise share your address.

If we later move the list to an email delivery service so we can send the digest, that provider will handle your address on our behalf and under contract. We will name them on this page before that happens.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to remove it, or until this project is discontinued — whichever comes first. If we discontinue it, we delete the list.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it.

Email bruno@1lab.io and we will action it. There is no form to complete and nothing to prove — asking is enough. Any email we send you will also carry an unsubscribe link.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
